AmPm Rolls Out the Red Carpet for their 5th Anniversary!

Having made their debut in 2017 with “Best Part of Us”, Japanese masked production unit AmPm have built a fan base all over the world. To mark the fifth anniversary of their debut, AmPm announced that they will unveil new information on the 16th of every month this year, as a new project for 2022 titled ‘AmPm Delivering’.

The first release is a 2022 concept trailer that offers hints at the plan for the year ahead. As part of their roadmap for 2022 – an info drop titled AmPm Delivering “THE TRUNK” – AmPm announced that they will release their debut album this year, along with a remix of “Best Part of Us”, their debut hit that exceeded 10 million plays in its first few months of release. “Best Part of Us - Anniversary Mix” will drop in May, and this will be only the beginning of a run of exciting future activity.

The new album will be a concept album themed on “travel”, a topic that is close to AmPm’s roots, and the trailer includes video footage of Tokyo, New York City, Jakarta and Amsterdam – each of which were also the titles of tracks released by AmPm last year as a series of singles inspired by those cities. While this imagery undoubtedly hints at the content of the concept album, it will be fascinating to find out how it is all connected and expressed as music. The first album track, a collaboration themed around a particular city, will be released in the near future.

The concept trailer also includes footage from past AmPm performances around the world. AmPm’s global performances have included DJ sets at ULTRA Miami, ULTRA Korea and ULTRA Japan, as well as a co-headline show with Jonas Blue and a solo concert in New York. Will 2022 be the year when they are finally able to head overseas again? Keep an eye out for more news from AmPm to find out.

In addition, AmPm made history in March 2021 when they became the first Japanese artist to publish and sell an NFT music release, and now they have announced that this will be followed by a second NFT release this year. AmPm will be active in the real world and the virtual space in 2022, so there will be plenty to talk about this year.

AmPm have been publishing congratulatory comments on their official social media channels from many famous fans, including artists they have collaborated with on original songs, remixes and productions.

In the runup to these new announcements, AmPm have been releasing their very first series of lyric videos for 28 past collaboration singles, as a countdown that began in February. As we look back on AmPm’s previous releases, we can also look forward to new music soon.

Comment from AmPm

“When we released our debut song ‘Best Part of Us’, we never imagined that we would make it this far. Shortly after releasing that first track, we were amazed to see it spread through the world instantly through Spotify; and when we played at our first festival in Indonesia, we were surprised to be welcomed by an audience who sang along with us, despite us still being relative unknowns. We have also been able to collaborate with a variety of artists from Japan and overseas, which has brought us great happiness.

“We have released over 30 songs to date, and as we have recently been creating new lyric videos for them, we’ve remembered fond memories for each track, and we have begun to feel the weight of the past five years of work. Although our debut was sudden, we have finally finished building our foundations, and now we are heading into the phase where we can share the experience we have accumulated through even more productions.

“We hope you will support AmPm in the future. We are extremely grateful to everyone who has listened to our music so far, and we hope that those who do not know us yet will enjoy discovering our past releases, as well as the music we will announce in the future.”

Japanese masked production duo AmPm have released a new remix of “Tokyo”, from their series of globe-trotting dance tracks named after cities around the world. The new version, “Tokyo (VIVID Remix)”, hits download and streaming platforms today, January 7.

“Tokyo” was originally released in March 2021 as a full-fledged dance track that paid homage to AmPm’s early influences in the scene, as well as painting a striking image of Japan’s iconic capital city, Tokyo. It was released by the up-and-coming Dutch label Sushi Muzik, based in Amsterdam, which has released tracks by dance music legends Norman Doray, Roland Clark, Kryder and Eddie Amador.

The brand-new remix comes courtesy of VIVID, an American DJ based in Tokyo who is a leading figure in Asia’s club scene. While serving as a resident at some of the most popular clubs in Asia, in countries such as Japan and South Korea, this talented and acclaimed artist also releases his own music on top record labels such as Armada and Enhanced Music, with tracks hitting No.19 on the United States Billboard Dance chart and No.8 on US dance radio.

The remix adds a new future house layer to the original track’s tech house groove and fast pace. The song has been reborn with a bold and danceable sound that is perfect for the club scene. Be sure to check out the streaming link for “Tokyo (VIVID Remix)” here, along wit the music video below!

Message from VIVID

“AmPm’s unique sound found in ‘Tokyo’ inspired me to bring a house-y vibe geared for the underground nightclubs in Japan.”

Message from AmPm

“We’re glad to be able to begin 2022 with the release of a suitably high-paced tune. The original version already had a fast tempo, but the thicker sound is unique to VIVID, and we hope you can enjoy listening to this excellent new remix and comparing it with the original.

“We sincerely hope that 2022 will be the year when people from all around the world can gather in Tokyo once again.”

AmPm Heads to Jakarta for their Third Series of Jet-Setting Dance Tracks!

The masked production duo AmPm, who began their career in March 2017 with the global hit “Best Part of Us feat. Michael Kaneko”, have released the third track in a series of dance tunes based on cities around the world. “Jakarta” was released today, September 10 across all digital music streaming platforms, alongside a music video shot on the streets of Indonesia’s vibrant capital city.

“Jakarta” is the third track in a series that began in March 2021 with the release of “Tokyo”, with each song crafting a musical journey to cities with which AmPm feel a strong personal connection. AmPm performed in Jakarta in 2017 as the only Japanese artist to appear at the Spotify On Stage festival, and the new track combines a smooth chill sound with a typically AmPm dance foundation, along with a Southeast Asian-influenced melody that is evocative of Indonesia’s capital.

The members of AmPm have also written a post on Medium about their experiences in Jakarta and the inspiration it gave them.

Throughout their career, AmPm have produced dance tracks featuring a variety of guest vocalists from around the world. In addition to these, AmPm intend to continue their series of releases inspired by their favorite cities, expressing the invaluable inspiration they have found on their global travels. Previous entries include “Tokyo” and “New York City” – the three tracks work great together as a set, so please check them out.

Message from AmPm

“As the place where we held our first live performance, Jakarta holds many special memories for us. The city is home to people from many different backgrounds, and it has a unique culture. As a very fast-growing city, it has a distinctive character, and it is one of our favorite cities. We aimed to express our image of Jakarta and the vibe we felt there as a dance track.

“We still vividly recall the excitement of our first live performance. Right now, it is difficult to share that kind of experience with a large group of people and with the volume turned up loud, but we long for the day when we can return to Jakarta and perform as the AmPm we are today.

“This track also includes some first-time attempts for us, such as incorporating the sound of traditional folk instruments, so we hope you will listen to it and experience the journey within your ears.”

AmPm Suits with Uru with Latest Release!

Uru

Uru

The masked production duo AmPm who found global success with their debut single “Best Part of Us feat. Michael Kaneko” in 2017, have produced a song for Japanese female singer Uru. The new song, “I don’t suit you (Produced by AmPm)”, is available August 25 across all digital music streaming platforms.

This song is featured on Uru’s 11th single, “Love Song”. “I don’t suit you” is an ethereal dance track that depicts the end of a love affair, written and composed by Uru and produced by AmPm.

Meanwhile, the title track, “Love Song”, is a unique song that tells of the hardships many of us face as we commit to love, the gradual accumulation of love in our hearts, and the irreplaceable time we spend with that special someone. It is currently featured as the theme song to the popular TV series My Fair Prince.

Comment from AmPm

“For the arrangement of this song, we wanted to showcase Uru’s lustrous and cool singing voice and her melancholy lyrics, and present them through the filter of AmPm’s own style. While the sound itself is essentially chill bass, Uru’s involvement made it an arrangement with plenty of emotion. The result is a song that fits in with AmPm’s sound perfectly.”

Message from Amanda Yang

“‘Everyday’ is about getting caught off guard and falling in love with someone. Being vulnerable is hard. So, I wanted to capture the moments when you realized that you were no longer just ‘casual’ with someone. The moments that showed it grew into something bigger. ‘Everyday’ is about finally letting your guard down and being open to loving someone without restrictions.”

Message from AmPm

“While we have always released tracks that include collaborations with guest vocalists, in 2021 we have also been releasing pure dance-music tracks without vocals. ‘Everyday’ is a combination of both of these approaches, and we think it works great. Above all, we think it is a simple and catchy summer tune, so we hope it will be an enjoyable soundtrack to your summer. It looks as though we are in for another summer of restrictions, but we hope you can turn up the volume a little, lift your spirits and have fun.”
