Indie Corner Week 1: Emerald
/Formed in 2011, Emerald is a five--occasionally six--member band that classifies as jazz and neo-soul. It wants to transcend what Japanese pop currently is. Lead vocalist Yosuke Nakano’s voice is just simply mesmerizing with how soothing it is and harmonizes very well with his bandmates. The instrumental beat jives very well without over-saturation. You can put yourself at ease by giving this group a listen.
Currently, Emerald has released two albums: Nostalgic Parade back in September of 2014, and their second album, Pavlov City, released in October 2017. Pavlov City was picked up on the Tokyo Rising playlist on Spotify. For 2018 they will be participating in Sakito festival and hope to continue giving their all and hoping that you feel the vibes as well.
