Kenshi Yonezu wishes to show part of his world with latest collaboration!
/Singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu announced that he will be composing the main theme song for upcoming animated movie 海獣の子供 (Kaijyu no Kodomo), the theme eerily titled “海の幽霊” (“Imi no Yurei”).
“Imi no Yurei” isn’t the first track that Yonezu has contributed for an animated film; his first was “打上花火” (“Uchiage Hanabi”) for the movie 打ち上げ花火、下から見るか?横から見るか? (“Uchiage Hanabi, Shita kara Miruka? Yoko kara Miruka?”). For that track he worked with vocalist Daoko. His work in Kaijyu no Kodomo will be the first instance in which he will serve as a solo act.
Opening June 7, Kaijyu no Kodomo is based on the hit manga of the same name and will be animated by famed animation studio STUDIO4℃, which promises to give fans of Daisuke Igarashi’s hit series something that will be looked upon with the highest regard.
Yonezu, who is also a fan of the manga in the past, commented that he is honored to be a part of the movie and looks forward to the finished project. He will not be alone in the project as Igarashi will be composing the lyrics alongside him and Igarashi stated that he was happy that Yonezu was attached to the project and hopes bring out the best in Yonezu with “Imi no Yurei”.
