Da-iCE’s Sota Hanamura and FAKY’s Lil’ Fang have teamed up to release ‘Break it down’, their opening theme to the second season of anime series Orient and its Battle of Awaji Island story arc. The song was released along with a lyric video.

The second season of Orient, which also began airing back in July, is based on the manga series of the same name, created by Magi writer and illustrator Shinobu Ohtaka. 150 years after demons suddenly appeared during Japan’s Warring States period, protagonists Musashi and Kojiro form the Band of Bushi to confront the demons in Hinomoto and follow their dreams in this battle-action anime series.

The opening theme is an unmissable collaboration between two of Japan’s “monster vocalists”: Sota Hanamura from Da-iCE, who has an incredible four-octave high-tone voice, and Lil’ Fang from FAKY, who sings with overwhelming power. Excited music fans quickly flooded social media when the tag-team was announced, with comments such as, “This collaboration is more than I could have ever imagined!”, “This is too hot”, and “I can’t wait to hear those two sing together at full power”.

Hanamura’s group Da-iCE composed the music and lyrics to the theme song ‘Promise’ for the 50th-anniversary movie ‘Masked Rider: Beyond Generations’ and the opening theme ‘Break out’ for the first season of ‘Orient’, while Lil’ Fang composed the music and lyrics to ‘It’s a small world’ for the 36th East Japan Women’s Ekiden tournament as well as the lyrics to ‘99’ for the TV drama series ‘RIKA-rebirth-’ and the movie ‘Rika: Self-proclaimed 28-Year-Old Pure Love Monster’. Through such projects, both artists have earned great acclaim not only as performers but as creative artists too.

Hanamura composed the music for ‘Break it down’, and Hanamura and Lil’ Fang co-wrote the lyrics. This kinetic song has an intense band sound that carries the two singers as their high-tone voices reach all-new levels of power. The lyrics echo the atmosphere of the ‘Orient’ anime perfectly, with lines like “Dreams that are laughed off as mistakes” and “Screaming beyond the boundaries of death” – red-hot lyrics that could only have been written by these two artists who love the series from the depths of their hearts.

In addition, the lyric video rdepicts the brave figure of Musashi and his friends as they take on their most challenging battle ever. These visuals combine with music and lyrics that will fill you with the courage to stand firm and face your fears, creating a powerful and inspiring video.

: Seductive Girl Group FAKY Release Music Video for Cute, Sexy New Song ‘Choco Fudge’!

“Choco Fudge” Jacket Cover

On July 27, seductive Japanese girl group FAKY released a raunchy music video for their new song ‘Choco Fudge’, the second pre-release single to be taken from their upcoming debut full-length album ‘F’, due October 19. And it has set the internet on fire.

FAKY are a girl group – or “girls’ union” to their fans in Japan – made up of five members of various nationalities with a diverse selection of roots and styles. Their ‘CANDY’ EP reached No.3 on the iTunes all-genres album chart behind only Ariana Grande and Radiohead, and entered the Top 10 of the Spotify Viral Top 50 chart in the United States. The group have also performed successful overseas concerts in countries such as Brazil, Canada and Spain. After joining the group in 2019, members Hina and Taki gained a huge fan base among teens after they appeared on the popular romance reality series ‘Who is the wolf?’ on streaming video service ABEMA, taking the group’s domestic success to all new heights.

The theme of FAKY’s new song ‘Choco Fudge’ is “erotic chill”. The track was co produced by Sweater Beats, who has worked with CL (2NE1) and Lizzo as well as with FAKY on their single ‘Sayonara My Ex’; and SUNNY BOY, who has worked with BTS and ØMI (Hiroomi Tosaka of J SOUL BROTHERS III from EXILE TRIBE), as well as writing the lyrics for FAKY’s recent single ‘Diamond Glitter’. It was co-written by FAKY members Lil’ Fang and Akina.

As a partner song to their 2016 single ‘Candy’, it is a cute and naughty pop track that coats its spicy intentions in sweet chocolate for ultimate temptation – perfect listening for a lazy day.

The music video begins with the five members of FAKY eating chocolate in their bedroom. As they hit a sugar high from the mysterious chocolate, things become ever more surreal: The world in front of their eyes begins to warp, they are suddenly able to use magic, and the bedroom floor floods with sumptuous pools of molten chocolate. Combined with the girls’ red-hot lingerie outfits, the video shows both the cute and sexy sides of FAKY.

The music video was directed by Takuto Shimpo, who also worked with FAKY on their previous video ‘Diamond Glitter’. Shimpo won the Best Japanese Group Video Award at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2021 for his video for Official Hige Dandism’s ‘Cry Baby’, as well as the Best Video Director Award at the Space Shower Music Awards 2021. The new video is filled with the retro texture and conceptual vibe typical of Shimpo’s work.

The release of the video set fans ablaze on social media, with comments like “It’s so cute, and sexy too – an awesome song that shows so many sides of FAKY!”, “FAKY’s sex appeal is off the charts!” and “They look amazing, and I can’t wait for the album”.

Keep an eye on FAKY as they gain momentum in the runup to their first full-length album release in October.

See the world through a ‘glitter filter’! With FAKY's lead song and video from their first full album!

The next-generation girl group FAKY released new single “Diamond Glitter” across all digital music streaming platforms. This is the lead track from their forthcoming first full-length album, which is set for release on Wednesday, October 19. The new digital single is accompanied by a music video, also released today.

FAKY are a girl group – or “girls’ union” to their fans in Japan – made up of five members with a diverse selection of roots and styles. Their CANDY EP reached No.3 on the iTunes all-genres album chart behind only Ariana Grande and Radiohead, and entered the Top 10 of the Spotify Viral Top 50 chart in the United States. The group have also performed successful overseas concerts in countries such as Brazil, Canada and Spain. After joining the group in 2019, members Hina and Taki gained a huge fan base among teens after they appeared on the popular romance reality series “Ookami” on streaming video service ABEMA, taking the group’s domestic success to all new heights. FAKY will finally release their long-awaited first full album in October 2022.

Since the announcement of the album release, FAKY have been gaining attention with their high-octane performances at concerts and other events. Now they are taking the next step with today’s release of “Diamond Glitter” as a digital single and music video, as an advance taste of the forthcoming album.

With its catchy hooks and melody lines designed to curl up comfortably your ears, the track is beyond genre classification. It is a gorgeous song that is unique to FAKY, incorporating elements of Western pop and J-pop in a way that only FAKY can do. It is a bright and powerful song that will make you feel like a “glitter filter” has been applied to the world around you.

In stark contrast, the music video delivers a grittier “dirty” vision. The video shows the members of FAKY creating sparkles in the decadent yet dark setting of a crumbling wedding venue, a smoky and cool image with a dark tone that contrasts brilliantly with the sound of the track. FAKY use this paradoxical technique to deliver a brilliantly colorful “dirty world”.

The video was directed by Takuto Shimpo, who won the Best Japanese Group Video Award at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2021 for his video for Official Hige Dandism’s ‘Cry Baby’, as well as the Best Video Director Award at the Space Shower Music Awards 2021. Shimpo has previously worked on videos for FAKY’s releases ‘little more’ and ‘Darlin’ (Prod. GeG)’, and the video for ‘Diamond Glitter’ references both of these videos, with homages to the mirror scene from ‘little more’ and the sofa room scene from ‘Darlin’ (Prod. GeG)’. These playful nods to FAKY’s past shine a light towards their upcoming first full album.

Perfectly fusing Western pop music and J-pop with a powerful sound and catchy hooks, FAKY’s unique “J-pop alternative style” is a must-listen! Be sure to check out the track here, with the music video below!

FAKY Teams Up with Aqu3ra in Latest Release!

“Futakoito” Jacket Cover

Five-member girl group FAKY have released their latest single, “Futakoito”, crafted by Vocaloid producer Aqu3ra. The new track, released this past week across all digital music streaming platforms, and is accompanied by a gorgeous illustrated music video. “Futakoito” is the campaign song for Ox-Head Village, a new horror movie by Ju-On creator Takashi Shimizu that stars actress Kōki, who has been turning heads in her first movie role. This follows FAKY’s campaign song for Shimizu’s 2021 film in the same series, Suicide Forest Village.

Shimizu commented on “Futakoito”, “The lyrics in this song about ‘another me (myself)’ are indeed the hidden theme of this movie. In an era where social media allows any of us to become someone else, can the two sides of the ego coexist? Will you struggle and be sucked in? Can you hold on to the essence of yourself?

“Thank you Aqu3ra for putting together the pieces of this movie. And thank you FAKY for collaborating with me once again!”

Aqu3ra is an up-and-coming young Vocaloid producer with eight smash-hit songs on Japanese video-sharing site Niconico. “Futakoito” is a challenging new song that blends FAKY’s pop style with Aqu3ra’s Vocaloid production skills, an addictive balance of dark and light that is impossible to forget.

Aqu3ra commented, “This song is a tie-up with the film ‘Ox-Head Village’, and I felt a link between the themes of the film and the recent distance we all feel from one another during the covid-19 pandemic. The song is based on that feeling. “I sent FAKY a demo of the song with guide vocals sung by a Hatsune Miku Vocaloid, and I was so excited when they returned a version to me that glowed with their unique singing style. I hope you will listen to this song, which begins with a profound atmosphere drenched in emotion from the members of FAKY, before introducing refreshing harmonies in the chorus. I think the song shows a new side to FAKY while maintaining their strong identity. Please enjoy it.”

FAKY member Lil’ Fang commented, “I have always enjoyed listening to Vocaloid music and watching ‘Sang_it’ videos, so I’m honored to have the chance to make a FAKY song with someone who hails from that culture. This was Aqu3ra’s first time to produce a girls’ unit like us, but I think the inorganic beauty of Vocaloid and the unique style of FAKY made for a wonderful chemical reaction.”
