Wakana Covers Anime Classics!

Vocalist and former member of Kalafina and FictionJunction, Wakana, has announced she will be releasing a special album titled Wakana Covers ~Anime Classics~ that released on December 9! This will be Wakana’s first cover album since going solo and follows up her latest album magic moment that released in February of this year. Wakana Covers ~Anime Classics~ will have a total of ten tracks including the popular hits “Kimi wo Nosete” (Castle in the Sky), “Ai ni Dekiru Koto wa Mada Aru Kai” (Weathering With You), and “Toki ni wa Mukashi no Hanashi wo” (Porco Rosso). Each of these tracks has new classical arrangements utilizing piano and string based instruments. All the tracks included bring a special meaning to Wakana as they bring back good memories of when she first heard these influential songs.

Wakana Covers ~Anime Classics~ is being released in two editions: a CD+DVD limited edition and a CD-only standard edition. The CD+DVD limited edition includes the music video and making for “Toki ni wa Mukashi no Hanashi wo” and a studio acoustic live of “Kimi wo Nosete” along with 40 page photobook and sleeve case packaging. KEIKO Announces Her First Album

Singer KEIKO has revealed she will be dropping her very first solo album titled Lantana on December 2. KEIKO was part of the three-member idol group Kalafina before they disbanded in 2019 and announced earlier this year that she would continue with her solo career. The new album is produced by Yuki Kajiura and includes the song “Nanshoku no Finale” which was written by KEIKO herself.

Lantana is being released in three editions total: a standard CD-only edition, a CD plus DVD edition, and a limited edition that will come with a bonus Blu-ray and vinyl. Pre-orders are up and posted below along with her latest music video “Ray.”

Former Kalafina Member Starts Solo Career

Former Kalafina member Keiko recently launched her solo career. She is going by the moniker KEIKO and has already started working on her first album which is scheduled to debut in the fall. KEIKO dropped a video on Avex’s YouTube channel wherein she is discussing branching out on her own. The video contains only Japanese subtitles but it is posted below for you to check out.

Kalafina was a three-member female vocal group that formed in 2008 and officially disbanded on March 13 of last year. It was founded by composer Yuki Kajiura who worked with the group until 2018 when her contract ended with Space Shower Records.

Wakana shows fans fall cherry blossoms with first EP!

Japanese vocalist, member of FictionJunction, and former member of popular vocal group Kalafina Wakana is set to release her debut EP Aki no Sakura November 20. Aki no Sakura comes hot on the trail of Wakana’s debut solo album which debuted this year in March and follows the release of her tour Wakana Live Tour 2019 -VOICE- at Nakano Sun Plaza which dropped September 25. Aki no Sakura will feature five tracks and comes to us in two beautiful editions, a CD + DVD limited edition and a CD-only regular edition. Kalafina is no more

Space Craft Produce announced March 13 that Kalafina will officially disband. The announcement came via a blog post on Space Craft Produce’s website. Although, it was announced last year that the founder and primary writer of the group, Yuki Kajiura, would be leaving.

Space Craft Produce is the talent agency that manages Kalafina and each of the members.

Kalafina is a three-member female idol group founded in 2007. When it was announced that Kajiura would be leaving, at the time there were still plans for the group to continue. However, in April of last year it was revealed that Keiko Kubota would also be leaving. Later in October it was additionally revealed that Hikaru Masai would depart as well. With 2018 being such a troubling time for Kalafina, the decision was made to simply render the group a thing of the past.

Kalafina was around for ten years and will be missed. We here at Ongaku To You wish everyone affiliated with them the best.
